Well, it seems like next-gen consoles will get a taste of Lovecraftian horror. The Sinking City is coming to next-gen platforms on February 19 for $49.99. According to Frogwares, there’ll be also a Deluxe Edition for the game available for $65 USD.
Will it Be a Free Upgrade?
Unlike Marvel’s Avengers, The Sinking City Enhanced will not feature a free upgrade from the PS4 version. In a statement addressed to the players, Frogwares said the following:
Some of you have been asking about a platform upgrade for the game from the PlayStation 4 version, however this is sadly not possible at the moment.
The Sinking City on PlayStation 4 and on PlayStation 5 have different publishers on record. On PlayStation 5, Frogwares is the developer and publisher of the game. As the PS4 and PS5 games have different game IDs and due to an ongoing current legal and technical situation, this game is currently not eligible for a platform upgrade.
As the situation is being handled legally, it remains frozen for the time being on our side.https://frogwares.com/the-sinking-city-playstation-5-release-statement/
This kind of problem will be clouding some players from what I’ve seen regarding next-gen upgrades. However, maybe the upgrade will be available at some point? It’s hard to tell.
What’s Available in the Deluxe Edition?
The Deluxe Edition of The Sinking City will include 6 DLC quests. In the Worshippers of the Necronomicon pack, Charles Reed investigates unsolved cases and sets out in search of mysterious spell books that harbor unspeakable powers.
Meanwhile, in the Merciful Madness pack, there are quests that explore Lovecraft’s iconic stories and bring to light the mysteries of Oakmont and its demented citizens.
Additionally, it will provide players with an exclusive private investigator outfit; early access to the Tommy gun; and an experience boost that can be used at the start of the game. The investigator outfit also has access to a first aid kit, antipsychotics and a crafting materials starter pack.
