Arcane is one of the many stats in Elden Ring. It determines how often you get rare items from the enemies that you have defeated. Not only that, but it also influences your vitality, which means that the chances of you going down are lesser now.

Furthermore, arcane also increases your holy defense; hence now you will be taking on reduced damage due to holy spells.

Now that the basics are out of the way, let us start with my list of best arcane weapons.

If you have been playing Elden ring for a while now then I am pretty sure that a name that you would have heard is the rivers of blood, which is one of the best katanas in Elden ring. It is a weapon that is known to be extremely strong among the players due to its powerful slashes.

It surely is a complete package as it inflicts great damage, has an amazing range for a katana, and an amazing blood loss buildup of 73 per hit which is quite good as well. You will need at least 12 dexterity, 12 strength, and 20 arcane to use this weapon.

Rivers of blood katana has a B scaling in dexterity and a d scaling in arcane. However, leveling arcane is much more beneficial for us because dexterity solely raises physical damage. Arcane, on the other hand, increases both the physical and the fire damage.

It should be obvious by now that this weapon does wonders in PvP but it also gets the job done in PvE. The moveset of the rivers of blood katana is very similar to that of a normal katana.

The only difference is its fantastic ‘corpse piler’ ash of war. This enables you to make continuous slashes that result in inflicting a lot of damage on the enemy.

To acquire this incredible weapon for yourself, head to the church of repose. This church is located on the eastern side of the mountaintops of the giants region. Once there you will be invaded by Bloody Finger Okina, who will drop the katana once you kill him. That is pretty much it.

Before we move further in my best arcane weapons list, something that you need to make sure is that you get to the church of repose before killing the main boss of the region. If you don’t do that, the invader NPC will not spawn up if you go afterward and therefore you will not be able to get this weapon.

The next item on my list of best arcane weapons in Elden ring is the formidable Eleonora’s poleblade. Even though it is less popular than the rivers of blood katana, it for sure gives it a run for its money. 

This weapon has a phenomenal ash of war called the ‘blood blade dance’ which is a lot more mobile and most importantly it looks really cool. So if you are interested in making an arcane build and want to push the blood loss against PvE bosses then this is a great choice.

Eleonora’s poleblade is a bit hard to use in PvP because it involves a lot of movement but if you get used to it and are able to land hits continuously then it is really effective.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to your decision to stick with it. If you do, you will eventually reap the benefits of your decision.

Location of Eleonora’s Poleblade

1. To acquire this weapon for yourself, you need to head to the Second Church of Marika which is located in the Altus plateau region.
2. There you will be invaded by Eleonora, Violet bloody finger who you need to kill.
3. Once you defeat her, she will drop Eleonora’s poleblade that you have come all the way for.

Mohgwyn’s sacred spear is arguably the best spear in the game. It boasts c scaling in arcane, c scaling in strength, and d scaling in dexterity. To wield it, you need at least 14 dexterity, 24 strength, and 27 arcane.

Its standout feature is the ‘Bloodboon ritual’ ash of war, which unleashes three powerful AOE explosions, even without a direct line of sight to the enemy.

This spear offers excellent reach, ideal for hit-and-run tactics. Its high stagger damage means a few hits can be decisive. It also has an impressive blood loss buildup of 86. I recommend pairing it with the lord of blood’s exultation talisman to boost your attack power when blood loss occurs nearby, a valuable advantage.

Location of Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear +10

To get this whole unit of a weapon you need to head to the consecrated snowfields and head west to the point shown below on the map. Here you will find a portal that will take you to the first site of grace of the Mohgwyn palace.

Once there, you need to go to the area on the top shown in the picture below

There you will be faced with Mohg, Lord of blood. Defeat him and you will get the remembrance of the blood lord which you can trade with Enia at the roundtable hold to get the Mohgwyn’s sacred spear.

4. Bloody Helice

The next one is the bloody helice which basically is a heavy thrusting sword. The name ‘bloody’ helice suits it perfectly well considering it has a massive blood loss buildup of 96. All of this means that this weapon is a little slower than the normal thrusting sword that you will see in the game and also has bleed on it.

“Bloody Helice’s unique ash of war is called ‘Dynast’s Finesse,’ a move involving a backstep, dodge, and thrust attack that covers a significant distance and deals substantial damage. It’s particularly effective in PvP combat, allowing you to dodge enemy attacks and quickly strike back.

For a dominating strategy, consider using the ‘War Cry’ ash of war. Normally, thrusting swords can’t be used, but with some ingenuity, you can make it work. Hold the sword in one hand and a katana in the other, then ‘two-hand’ the Bloody Helice to activate the katana war cry move. This allows you to use the war cry effectively.”

1. To obtain the bloody helice for yourself, head to the Writheblood ruins.
2. It is located near the bridge of Ingenuity in the north of the Altus plateau region. Once there, look for a passage that leads underground.

Here you will find a boss that will be easy to deal with. Once you have killed him, go through the door to find the chest that contains the bloody helice.

Reduvia is a dagger in Elden ring and is an amazing weapon for melee players who want to have some ranged attacks in-store as well. Its massive blood loss buildup of 96 and an attack called the ‘reduvia blood blade’. In it, you throw ranged attacks that cause hemorrhaging in your enemy.

What makes this weapon truly formidable is that you can even throw successive ranged attacks at your enemy. Just imagine the damage that you will cause if you dual-wield these bad boys. A downside to this weapon is the limited range, especially in boss fights, however, that is somewhat compensated by the weapon’s skill.

Location of Reduvia

To get the reduvia for yourself, you need to head to the river section that is beside the Murkwater cave.

1. Once there, you will need to face an invader NPC called the Bloody Finger Nerijus.
2. This fight can prove to be quite challenging however you do not have to worry much.
3. Just live long enough and in time you will be joined by Bloody Finger Hunter Yura who will facilitate you in killing the NPC.
4. The NPC will drop the weapon you are looking for once you have killed him.

This is one of the most impressive curved greatswords in the game, with a huge blood loss buildup of 90. Its special attack is called the cursed blood slice in which you thrust forward and make a powerful slice at the enemy.

This attack obliterates your enemies in PvP but works nicely against bosses as well. The mentioned attack makes this weapon effective and worthy of even being used to deal with small groups of hostiles.

Location of Morgott’s Cursed Sword

1. To get this best arcane weapon, you must defeat Morgott, the Omen King.
2. This is a non-optional boss and defeating him is not an easy task, that is why he is on our list of hardest bosses.
3. To get to him you need to head to the Elden throne.
4. There you will have to defeat him and once you have done so, you will get his remembrance.
5. Take it to the roundtable hold and exchange it with Enia to get Morgott’s cursed sword.

“The Marais Executioner’s Sword is a greatsword in Elden Ring, requiring 24 strength, 17 dexterity, and 23 arcane for wielding. Despite being categorized as a ‘heavy sword,’ it’s relatively light at 11.5 weight. When used one-handed, it delivers a horizontal slash, while two-handed it produces a powerful vertical slash.

Its standout feature is the ‘Dancing Blade’ ash of war, which allows you to channel energy and unleash a corkscrew attack. Boost its damage by using a talisman-like Rotten Winged Insignia or Millicent’s Prosthesis. This weapon excels against bosses due to its unique skill and impressive aesthetics.

It’s not ideal for PvP due to the ash of war’s execution time, but it shines in boss battles.

Location of Marais Executioner’s Sword

1. To obtain this weapon, go to the shaded castle.
2. Once there, you will need to face a boss called the Elemur of the Briar.
3. This fight can prove to be a little difficult because it will take place in a small room.
4. Elemur will drop Marais executioner’s sword, once you successfully defeat him.

Why Were Others Not Chosen?

What I Would Recommend?

If I was to recommend you any two weapons out of these then it would have to be my personal favourites with the Reduvia and Eleonora’s Poleblade. I completed NG with the Reduvia and completed NG+ with Eleonora’s Poleblade.

Either of these weapons is very much worth your time due to the bleed and damage. However, slap a Mimic Tear and some charms that increase damage on consecutive hits plus increase damage on bleed procs and you have a boss melting setup like no other.
