Final Fantasy 16: Muddy Murderer [Full Guide]

One of the most crucial hunts in Final Fantasy 16 is the Muddy Murderer, also known as Flan Prince. He can be tough to defeat. Therefore, players should prepare before presenting themselves on the battlefield.

Muddy Murderer is a level 38 hunt and falls under Rank A. He is one of the toughest Flan enemies and uses magic to defend himself. Considering his high level, Muddy Murdere’s spells will also be stronger than other hunts. Hence, you must prepare well.

Muddy Murderer Location

You will find the Flan Prince in Rosaria when you are mentally and physically ready. He rests in the southern meadows in the Hawk’s Cry Cliff.

1. I recommend the shortest path, starting your journey from Auldhyl Dock and walking east.
2. Follow the pathway in the North, which will take you to a valley after passing from the cliff region.
3. Keep going inside the valley until you witness the target.
4. Use Hunt Board if you get lost by talking to Nektar, who can guide you towards the Muddy Murderer. 

Attacking Moves

Muddy Murderer has some attacks that can prove very fatal. You should be aware of them so you know beforehand what to do. Here is a list of what to expect.

Muddy Murderer’s Attacks:

1. Powerful Spells:
   • Muddy Murderer’s main attack involves casting strong spells like Aeroga, Stonega, and Blizzaga. These spells have a wide Area of Effect (AoE) and can deal significant damage.
2. Physical Attacks:
   • Muddy Murderer can use physical attacks like becoming a tornado when it wraps its hands around it. Avoid getting caught in these attacks by staying out of sight.
3. Melee Attacks:
   • The Flan Prince may also casually use melee attacks during the fight to deal light damage over time.

To effectively counter these attacks, Clive can use the following abilities:

1. Ignition:
   • Use Ignition to envelop Clive in a fire shield when charging the Muddy Murderer with a powerful sword attack. This can help eliminate nearby enemies.
2. Rift Slip:
   • Rift Slip allows you to cancel any enemy ability that is in use. Use Rift Slip in combination with other abilities to interrupt the enemy’s attacks and set up counterattacks.
3. Blind Justice:
   • Blind Justice involves throwing a chain of lightning balls at the Flan Prince, which attach to its body and cause additional damage as they explode.

My Recommendations For Beating Muddy Murderer

To help you survive longer on the battlefield, we present some strategies. Ensure you use more than half of them so the Muddy Murderer suffers more than you.

1. Take Time to Prepare: Ensure your gear and equipment are fully upgraded and suitable for the level 38 hunt. Stock up on healing items that defend against magic, as the Flan Prince heavily relies on magic attacks.
2. Try to Dodge: Pay close attention to the magic spells used by the Muddy Murderer. These spells have a larger Area of Effect (AoE), so moving out of their targeted area is essential. Use the delay between spell casting and impact to your advantage to evade the spells successfully.
3. Hit and Run: Staggering the enemy is not a priority in this battle. Focus on dealing significant damage with abilities that have quick animations, and then quickly retreat to avoid any potential counterattacks. Your primary objective is to whittle down the enemy’s health.
4. Use Melee Attacks: When the Muddy Murderer’s health drops below half, it will start using melee attacks with its hands. While these attacks deal lower damage, they can be challenging to avoid. Maintain a safe distance from the enemy, especially if it’s close to defeat.
5. Prioritize Healing: Pack more healing items than you initially planned. If the Flan Prince lands a hit, immediately retreat and heal, as you may not survive a second hit.

Like other hunts, defeating the Muddy Murderer will give you a list of rewards that help you level up and upgrade weapons. They are:

• 5200 XP Points for leveling up.
• 95 Ability Points for ability upgrades.
• 12,000 Gils 
• 30 Renown
