I have invested more than 30+ hours in playing Remnant 2. During my playthrough, I was able to tinker with various character builds, weapons, tricks, and armor. Hence, you can easily trust the information I give related to Remnant 2!
Katanas are one of the fan-favorite weapons in the game. This is due to their elegant designs and their sleek outlook. Thus, this Remnant 2 Best Katana guide will tell you about all the katanas in the game and which one reigns supreme among them.
Key takeaways
- Katanas in Remnant 2 are melee weapons that are excellent at close range.
- Katanas provide players with dexterity and agility to gnaw at their opponents.
- The Best Katanas in Remnant 2 are the Edge of the Forest, Steel Katana, Spectral Blade, and Ornate Blade, in that order.
- All of these Katanas have the potential to be the best, depending on the circumstances and the playstyle you play.
1. Edge of the Forest
Best DPS Katana
Why is Edge of the Forest the best Katana?
The Edge of the Forest is the strongest katana in terms of pure damage. It combines elegance and beauty with bloodshed, making it the most sought-after katana in Remnant 2.
The Katana known as the “Edge of the Forest” stands out as one of the best Katanas in Remnant 2, in my opinion, thanks to its impressive stats:
- Base Damage: 59
- Critical Hit Chance: 9%
- Weak Spot Damage: +105%
- Stagger Modifier: -15%
These stats make it a deadly weapon, particularly effective in skilled hands. Its lightweight nature grants agility and fluidity in battles, enhancing your combat prowess. The unique design, inspired by nature, adds to its appeal.
To acquire this Katana, head to the imperial gardens near the world stone checkpoint. Follow the left wall from the checkpoint, bypassing enemies until you find it.
If the base damage doesn’t grab your attention, I suggest scaling its potential through the upgrade table below.

- Cannot add any Mods to it.
- Does only raw damage.

2. Steel Katana
Best Katana in Early Game.
Why do I prefer Steel Katana?
It’s readily available if you choose Invader, or you can buy it. It offers decent damage stats ideal for early game stages.
Next up on my Remnant 2 Best Katanas guide, I have the Steel Katana. The Katana is very rough looking, with it being a piece of metal with serrated edges that enable you to land focused attacks and have dexterity. The weapon’s stats include:
- 56 Base Damage
- 10% Critical Strike Chance
- +105% Weak Spot Damage
- -10% Stagger Modifier
The thing I like about it is that it’s readily available if you want. Firstly, if you haven’t selected your archetype yet, you can go with the invader archetype, which will give you this weapon.
However, if you have already passed this stage and selected a different archetype, you can go for either of the following options. You can find the weapon in the Root Earth near the Ashen Wasteland Checkpoint.
This will not only give you this weapon but also the Dendroid Set. Moreover, if you don’t want to spend time finding it, you can buy it from Brabus at Ward 13. If these stats aren’t enough to convince you, you can look at the upgrade table for this weapon below.

Level 20 | 580 Scrap 1 Simulcrum |
168 |
With these upgrades, the weapon rivals even the most potent weapons in the game and can be influential in tight situations. This is definitely in the conversation for being the Remnant 2 Best Katanas.
- High Damage.
- Easy to attain.
- Weapon Mod slot available.
- No special damage effect.
- Looks dull.
- Low Stagger Modifier.
3. Spectral Blade
Best Katana with AOE Damage.
Why do I choose Spectral Blade?
The Spectral blade offers an exceptional Stagger Modifier to take down enemies quickly and has a built-in mod to deal AOE damage.
The Spectral Blade lives up to its name as a super-heated laser sword, slicing through obstacles with ease. Its striking blue hue adds to its visual appeal, and its stats are as follows:
- Base Damage: 53
- Critical Strike Chance: 8%
- Weak Spot Damage: +105%
- Stagger Modifier: -25%
For me, what sets this weapon apart is its built-in mod called Whirlwind. It allows your neutral backdash charge to release a flurry of attacks targeting enemies within an eight-meter radius, dealing 75 damage with each hit.
To obtain the Spectral Blade, you’ll need to craft it. Gather the necessary materials: 650 Scrap, 7 Lumenite Crystals, and 1 Eldolon Shard. Visit the McCabe Store to craft this exceptional weapon.
For a view of how it scales in the late game, refer to the Upgrade Table below.
Upgrade Level | Crafting Materials Required | Damage Dealt |
---|---|---|
Level 1 | 450 Scrap 5 Iron 2 Lumenite Crystal |
58.3 |
Level 2 | 525 Scrap 10 Iron 2 Lumenite Crystal |
63.6 |
Level 3 | 600 Scrap 15 Iron 2 Lumenite Crystal |
57.2 |
Level 4 | 675 Scrap 15 Forged Iron 2 Lumenite Crystal |
62.4 |
Level 5 | 750 Scrap 20 Forged Iron 3 Lumenite Crystal |
79.5 |
Level 6 | 825 Scrap 15 Galvanized Iron 3 Lumenite Crystal |
84.8 |
Level 7 | 900 Scrap 20 Galvanized Iron 3 Lumenite Crystal |
90.1 |
Level 8 | 975 Scrap 15 Hardened Iron 4 Lumenite Crystal |
95.4 |
Level 9 | 1050 Scrap 20 Hardened Iron 4 Lumenite Crystal |
100.7 |
Level 10 | 1125 Scrap 5 Lumenite Crystal 1 Simulacrum |
106 |
With all upgrades, the weapon reaches up to 106 damage per hit. The damage isn’t too shabby. However, crafting materials can be pretty costly compared to the rest, especially because of the damage gap between them.
- Built-in Mod – Whirlwind.
- AoE Damage.
- Decent Damage in base form.
- No other Mod Slots.
- Damage doesn’t increment much on upgrading.
4. Ornate Blade
Best Katana with Highest Crit Chance.
Why do I recommend Ornate Blade?
Its base damage is low, but it gets better as you upgrade it. Moreover, it offers the highest critical chance among all other katanas here.
Our last Katana for this guide is Ornate Blade. The ornate blade has risen to popularity due to its mesmerizing design.
With its elongated shape, the weapon gives the holder a bit more reach and agility. In my experience, it’s suitable for short trades and can become a devilish weapon in the right hands. The weapon stats include:
- 52 Base Damage
- 11% Critical Hit Chance
- +105% Weak Spot Damage
- -5% Stagger Modifier
The weapon has the lowest base damage from the bunch, but it also has the least stagger modifier, hence why it’s so low on the list. However, if this weapon piques your interest, you can obtain it by figuring out the correct conspirator during the Fae Council event in the Losomn Council Chamber. I advise going for it only if you like its aesthetics; performance-wise, better options are available.
Furthermore, you can see the upgrade table for the weapon’s true potential.
Upgrade Level | Crafting Materials Required | Damage Dealt |
---|---|---|
Level 1 | 200 Scrap 4 Iron |
61.6 |
Level 2 | 220 Scrap 6 Iron |
67.2 |

93.6 |
Level 9 | 360 Scrap 10 Forged Iron |
98.8 |
Level 10 | 380 Scrap 12 Forged Iron |
104 |
Level 11 | 400 Scrap 4 Galvanized Iron |
109.2 |
Level 12 | 420 Scrap 6 Galvanized Iron |
114.4 |
Level 13 | 440 Scrap 8 Galvanized Iron |
119.6 |
Level 14 | 460 Scrap 10 Galvanized Iron |
124.8 |
Level 15 | 480 Scrap 4 Galvanized Iron |
130 |
Level 16 | 500 Scrap 6 Hardened Iron |
135.2 |
Level 17 | 520 Scrap 8 Hardened Iron |
140.4 |
Level 18 | 540 Scrap 10 Hardened Iron |
145.6 |
Level 19 | 560 Scrap 12 Hardened Iron |
150.8 |
Level 20 | 580 Scrap 1 Simulcrum |
156 |
The reason for it being on this list is due to how well it scales. Other than the edge of the Forst Katana, this Katana can reach the highest damage along with the highest chance for a critical strike.
Hence, it was a must-have in my guide. If you can manage the early game with the damage it has at the start, this is the Katana for you.
- Decent Damage in Base Form and improves with upgrades.
- High Critical Chance.
- Aesthetic Look.
- No Mod Slots.
- Low Stagger Modifier.
My Choice For The Best Katana
If you are going for a max damage build, I recommend going for the Edge of the Forest Katana, but if you are going for a different kind of build, look at the rest to see how well they will fare in your build. Personally, I like Edge of the Forest due to its charming and elegant design and the fact that it’s the most damaging katana.
That concludes my Remnant 2 Best Katanas guide. Let us know how you are enjoying the game so far, and go check out my other guides, such as Remnant 2 Best Pistols and Remnant 2 All Armor Sets.
