System Unlocks
Unlocking the Boost Kick is invaluable for both story and PVP players. This move, ending an assault boost with a powerful kick or slam, inflicts massive stagger damage, making the armored core a formidable opponent. In story missions, it eliminates the stagger bar while closing distance with enemies.
In PVP, it not only closes the gap but also forces opponents to move rapidly. A well-timed Boost Kick can make a significant difference in the match. It’s particularly potent for nuke builds, allowing rapid approach and using weapons like the songbird at close range to eliminate the enemy’s posture bar, leaving them vulnerable to massive damage.
Quick Turn is a pretty good mobility unlock which essentially just allows for quicker directional control. This upgrade is good for all mechs but especially heavy mechs, which take a while to turn, especially with a quadped build or a tank leg build.
Core Expansions
Assault Armor is a very good upgrade for a few reasons. While this doesn’t provide a shield for the player, which provides temporary defense, this does block projectiles.
Additionally, this upgrade uses a massive pulse explosion, much like the skill of the first chapter’s missile boss when he enters phase 2. This blocks all enemy projectiles and does huge damage, which is very useful.
Pulse Armor is a pretty good upgrade for players running light builds, as it provides a temporary shield that can tank a fair bit of damage. Considering light builds are less than half the HP of tank builds, this is a pretty useful upgrade for tight situations.
Damage Control
Bosses can do massive damage, and for that reason, the damage control upgrades are both exceptionally good for players who want to tackle the huge mechs head-on.
ACS – Dynamic Deflection Control Tuning makes your mech take less damage. This is pretty useful, especially against bosses and in PvP, where getting nuked to death is fairly common.
Repair Kits – Optimization is an upgrade that is incredibly helpful. It increases the effectiveness of the repair kits provided by the game and makes some boss encounters a lot more bearable.
