Alan Wake 2 Shotgun [Location And Padlock Code]

The Shotgun returns from the first Alan Wake, and who could forget its usefulness? Even in games like Resident Evil, the Shotgun has been a definite upgrade over the Pistol due to its higher damage and spread. However, in Alan Wake 2, the Shotgun is locked behind a Padlock with an unknown Code.

Shotgun Location

The Shotgun will be in a familiar location where you first examined the Murder Site at Cauldron Lake. However, you won’t be able to get to it until later. Moreover, if you follow along with the story and objectives of Return Chapter 2, The Heart, you’ll end up at the General Store. Furthermore, upon going inside, you will fight an enemy wearing a Deer’s head.

If you go inside the hole in the wall, the one that he broke out of, you can find the Shotgun sitting behind a Cabinet locked by a Padlock. Moreover, upon examining the Cabinet, you will see a note that reads, “Check with Lady Fortuna at the Counter.” This note is one of the clues you need to unlock the Padlock.

Padlock Code Clues

If you examine the Counter at the General Store, you will see a list of old codes, including 705, 713, 717, and 723. Another clue next to this one is the Lotto Washington numbers, which are A. 05 13 17 23 39 45. From here, you can infer that the only new codes could be 739 or 745 since those are the only ones that don’t overlap.

So go ahead and enter both these numbers and find that 739 was the correct Padlock Code. Finally, you’ll be able to get the Shotgun and make the rest of the mission easier for yourself. On the other hand, getting the Shotgun is completely optional, and you can skip it if you’re in a hurry, but you may regret that decision down the lane.

I love using Shotguns in Horror Games like Resident Evil, and it’s no different in Alan Wake 2. The Pistol is okay, but I get anxious when I have to aim down the sights and perfectly aim my headshots, so having a Shotgun with a larger area of fire and greater close range damage alleviates all that stress and helps me progress in an effective manner.
