The High Half-Elf race are hybrids of Humans and Elves and possess the skills of both races however with some drawbacks. Even then, they have a lot to provide. With the high-half elf, their advantages of being from such heritage are in the spotlight and allow them to shine. They have a 9m Base Racial Speed which is quite advantageous depending on how you use it. 

Furthermore, they also possess the choice of a cantrip.

High Elf

The High Elf is a more advanced variant of the Elf race and provides you with more magical prowess to launch more spells and deal more damage or provide utility. They enable you to choose from one of 13 cantrips among which you can choose the one that fits your playstyle the most. 

Moreover, they have a 9m Base Racial Speed and they grant you a +1 in intelligence which bolsters your standing overall. A nice option for the Best Druid Race.

Gold Dwarf

The Gold Dwarf is known for durability and resilience, with the Dwarven toughness trait increasing your HP by 1 and +1 HP with each level up. However, it has a slower base speed of 7m but compensates with an additional Wisdom point.

Best Druid Race Subclasses

There are three subclasses that you can choose from:

• Circle of the Moon
• Circle of the Spores
• Circle of the Land

All three of these classes have something to provide but the best among them is the Circle of the Moon subclass due to how well it meshes with the races. It not only provides versatility but also enables you to be more creative in your attacks to make openings for your allies. So, let’s take a closer look into what this subclass has to provide.

Circle of the Moon

The Circle of the Moon Druid subclass is highly recommended. It enhances Druids’ shapeshifting abilities, offering various forms for different purposes:

1. Cat: A distraction for allies.
2. Badger: Burrows into the ground.
3. Bear: Draws enemy aggro, making them easier to attack.
4. Wolf: Increases ally mobility and enables critical strikes.
5. Spider: CC’s enemies with webbing.
6. Dire Raven: CC’s enemies by blinding them and remains undetected.
7. Deep Rothé: Casts dancing lights and charges enemies for easy defeats.

This subclass’s versatility benefits both tanky Gold Dwarves with Bear form and damage-focused High Elves with Wolf form.

Circle of Spores

The Circle of Spores is another subclass that you can go for in the Druid Class. As the name suggests, it allows you to control spores and deal damage with them.

They are quite powerful when going for a damaging build and can complement the High Elf race but they lack the versatility that is required of a druid class and hence makes them more vulnerable in certain situations.

Circle of Land

Consider the Circle of Land subclass, which allows you to navigate difficult terrain and communicate with animals, unlocking unique dialogue options. This class provides exclusive, prepared spells not accessible to the Circle of the Moon subclass, offering valuable utility in challenging situations.

However, it may lack the overall versatility of a Druid and may be more beneficial with specific races in certain scenarios. If it aligns with your chosen Baldur’s Gate 3 Druid Race, it’s a viable option to consider.

Best Druid Race Builds

There are different builds suited to different races in Baldur’s Gate 3. So for my recommendation of the two powerful classes the High Elf and the Gold Dwarf, I will provide you with two builds that complement it.

High Elf Race Build

For a High Elf Druid in BG3 with the Circle of the Moon subclass:

1. Choose Arcana and Perception skills for a good fit.
2. Prioritize Wisdom, Constitution, and Dexterity for ability scores. Allocate the rest to Intelligence, Charisma, and Strength.
3. Focus on leveling up Wisdom as your primary ability.
4. As you progress, improve your ability scores to enhance damage during team fights.
5. At Level 10, you’ll gain an important power spike with advanced Wild Strike and Wild Shape, offering both damage and utility for your team.

This build combines damage-dealing capabilities with valuable support for your allies.

Gold Dwarf Build

The Gold Dwarf Build relies on your tank stats and provides you with the ability to stand on the frontlines and take the brunt of your enemy attacks so that your damage-dealing allies are able to freely land their abilities. The best way to complement this build is to choose Gold Dwarf as your race and then take the skills of Perception and Medicine. 

Additionally, choose the Circle of the Moon subclass due to how much it brings to the table, or if you want to be more story-driven and have more of a spell arsenal you can go for the Circle of the Land subclass. However, I will recommend you stick with the Moon circle as it enables you to CC enemies. 

Furthermore, put your points mainly in Wisdom, Dexterity, and Strength with the rest in Constitution and Charisma, this allows the class to shine to its best-supporting potential and makes it a goliath in the end game.

The Druid class is very adaptable to whatever type of build you prefer, but the strongest among them are the ones that are mentioned. Furthermore, they are complemented by respective races which are as crucial in unlocking their potential.
