Finishers are Destiny 2’s high-damage special attacks. You need to bring certain enemies down to 20% health to use a finisher. Once triggered, a finisher kills the enemy with a little cinematic. The player is still vulnerable to enemy attacks during the finisher animation. To perform a finisher, press the right button on the D-pad on consoles and the Q key on PC.
I have spent more than 500+ hours playing Destiny 2, so you can easily trust the information I provide related to the ins and outs of Destiny 2!

Updated March 15th, 2024 by Reeshail Qureshi:
At the end of each season, there is a significant chance that new finishers will be introduced by the developers or the old ones will be removed. Since the article was written a couple of years back, around 8 to 9 seasons have been there and some finishers were added and removed from my list of Best Finishers. Additionally, I have also ensured to remove the finishers that were no longer used by players and they became obsolete. Finally, my list of the best finishers is updated and you will find some potential choices down there.
Here is a summary table for the Best Destiny 2 Finishers For Every Class:
How To Unlock Destiny 2 Finishers
Finishers are cosmetic items in Destiny 2, which makes unlocking them relatively simple. Firstly, you should purchase the season pass if you are looking to get your hands on every single finisher, for some are exclusive to the season pass. You can find other finishers in bright engrams or pick them up from Eververse.
The Best Titan Finishers In Destiny 2
Here is a list of all the finishers that are exclusive to the Titan class. All of these finishers have their own unique animations. You can purchase all these finishers from Eververse. Their slick animations and quick executions make them, in my opinion, the greatest finishers for the Titan class.
Fracturing Slam
Best Dominating Finisher
Season | 12 |
Class | Titan |
Type | Finisher |
Rarity | Legendary |
Description | Finish critically wounded combatants. |
Source | Eververse |
Why did I Choose Fracturing Slam?
The fracturing slam comes with a unique slamming animation which looks very assertive over your opponent.
As the name suggests, a Fracturing slam has your titan summon a hammer-like object and slam your opponent to death with it. Not only is this a very satisfying finisher, but it also happens to be one of the fastest finishers in Destiny 2.

- Unique Animation
- High Damage
- Class-Specific
- Vulnerability during execution
- Dependence on Health
- Limited use cases
Nail On The Head
Best Finisher For XP Farm
Name | Nail on the Head |
Season | 9 |
Class | Titan |
Type | Finisher |
Rarity | Legendary |
Description | Finish critically wounded combatants. |
Source | Eververse |
Why did I Choose Nail On The Head?
The Nail On The Head finisher shows strategic use and is an aggressive way to end a fight.
This finisher has your titan summon a nail made out of solar energy, which hits your opponent on the head, finishing them off. This finisher ranks high for the nail resembles the hammer of Sol, making the finisher one of the coolest finishers in Destiny 2.

- Efficiency
- Showcasing Ability
- Strategic Use
- Limited Use
- Requires Attention
- Risk of Overuse
Bulwark Hurl
Best Fastest Finisher
Why did I Choose Bulwark Hurl?
The Bulwark Hurl finisher is quick and does not cause unnecessary delays and make the combat longer, which I prefer.
This finisher has your titan summon their Sentinel Shiel, slamming it flying upwards toward your enemy’s face, killing them in one swift motion. This finisher also happens to have a very quick animation time and Is one your fireteam will definitely notice no matter what they’re doing.

- Overshield Generation
- Versatility
- Energy Cost
- Limited Effectiveness
Thunderclap
Best Finisher Of All Time
Season | 10 |
Class | Titan |
Type | Finisher |
Rarity | Legendary |
Description | Finish critically wounded combatants. |
Source | Eververse |
Why did I Choose Thunderclap?
Thunderclap is one of the best looking finishers due to how it takes the form of thunder.
Following its name, this finisher makes your titan spray the enemy with arc energy in the form of thunder using a clap-like motion. This finisher’s animation is arguably the greatest amongst all titan finishers, and the fact that it makes you feel overpowered, although only for a second, is an added bonus.

- Efficiency in combat
- Versatility
- Adds to gameplay variety
- Limited use
- Requires judgement
- Not always the best choice
Best Warlock Finishers
Here is a list of all the finishers exclusive to the warlock class. All these finishers can be purchased from Eververse. All the finishers mentioned below have the greatest animations among all the warlock finishers.
En Garde
Best Quick Finisher
Name | En Garde |
Season | 9 |
Class | Warlock |
Type | Finisher |
Rarity | Legendary |
Description | Finish critically wounded combatants. |
Source | Eververse |
Why did I Choose En Garde?
En Garde is another quick-ending animation finisher that displays cutting your enemy in a single dawnblade swing.
This finisher makes your Warlock summon their dawnblade and finish off their enemy in one swift hit. The finisher is pleasing to look at and is only 0.27 seconds long.

- Visual Impact
- Versatility
- Engagement
- Requires Precision
- Dependent on Health
- Risk of Miss
Stormbreaker
Best Aesthetic Finisher
Season | 10 |
Class | Warlock |
Type | Finisher |
Rarity | Legendary |
Description | Finish critically wounded combatants. |
Source | Eververse |
Why did I Choose Stormbreaker?
The stormbreaker finisher has a very different and cool animation where you will unleash your arc energy to finish off the opponent.
Much like the Titan’s thunderclap, stormbreaker has your warlock unleash arc energy, killing off their opponent. This finisher has your warlock enter the stormstance for a second, which makes them look very cool. While a little on the longer side with animations, the animation of this finisher more than justifies its presence in this list.

- Class-specific enhancement
- Unique gameplay
- Cosmetic and gameplay aspects
- Limited effectiveness against certain enemies
- Dependence on class and playstyle
- Competition for use
Shatterpierce
Best Early Finisher
Season | 12 |
Class | Warlock |
Type | Finisher |
Rarity | Legendary |
Description | Finish critically wounded combatants. |
Source | Eververse |
Why did I Choose Shatterpierce?
The one hit with the spear is a very satisfying way to kill your opponent, hence I like to end the fight with the Shatterpierce finisher.
This finisher has your Warlock summon a spear-like object that shatters upon impact, killing your opponent in one hit. The engaging animation and relatively quick execution time make it one of the finest Warlock finishers.

- Extended range
- Versatility
- Cosmetic and gameplay aspects
- Super Energy Requirement
- Limited Utility
- Potential for Overuse
Nova Pulse
Best Damage Finisher
Why did I Choose Nova Pulse?
Nova Pulse is a very quick finisher in the form of a bomb that has a high damage output and a positive visual impact for you and your teammates.
This finisher makes your warlock finish off their opponent with an entire Nova bomb. The animation of this finisher is a sight to behold, both for you and your fireteam. Not only that, but this also happens to be one of the quickest finishers in the game.

- High damage output
- Visual Impact
- Versatility
- Limited usage
- Cooldown
- Resource Intensive
Best Hunter Finishers In Destiny 2
The hunter class arguably has the greatest finishers in all of Destiny, partly due to how cool most Hunter super abilities look. Here are all the finishers exclusive to the Hunter class. You can obtain all these finishers from Eververse. The finishers mentioned below are the ones I believe to have the greatest animations with a decent animation time.
Crackling Flourish
Best Mid Game Finisher
Season | 10 |
Class | Hunter |
Type | Finisher |
Rarity | Legendary |
Description | Finish critically wounded combatants. |
Source | Eververse |
Why did I Choose Crackling Flourish?
The animation does the spear killing move, but the dance before the kill is what makes Crackling Flourish a worthy finisher.
This finisher has your hunter summon an icy spear, which they use to kill their opponent in one swift motion. The little dance the Hunter does before the attack is what gives this a place in this list.

- Exclusive to Hunters
- Unique Animation
- Class-specific enhancement
- Not available to all classes
- Limited utility
- Potential Overshadowing
Sureshot
Best Iconic Finisher
Type | Sights and Barrels |
Range | 10 |
Stability | -10 |
Handling | -10 |
Description | Pinpoint Hand Cannon Sight. Increases range. Decreases stability. Decreases handling speed. |
Hand Cannons | Imset HC4, Better Devils, Presto-48, Guseva-C, Bad News, Annual Skate, Home for the Lost, A Cold Sweat, West of Sunfall 7, The Defiant |
Why did I Choose Sureshot?
Sureshot is a versatile finisher that can be used on all types of enemies, including the yellow health bars.
Another finisher that will likely get a lot of recognition from the people in your party chat, sureshot is a finisher where your hunter finishes off their opponent with their Golden Gun. The appearance of the Golden Gun alone makes this a worthy finisher, the fact that it lasts only .19 seconds is an added bonus.

- Unique aesthetics
- Consistency
- Class fit
- Customization Options
- Limited effectiveness
- Unlock requirements
- Potential overuse
Arctic Edge
Best PvP Finisher
Season | 12 |
Type | Hunter Finisher |
Rarity | Legendary |
Description | Finish critically wounded combatants. |
Vendor | Tess Everis |
Aquisition | Eververse |
Why did I Choose Arctic Edge?
The Arctic Edge finisher is effective in crowded areas and it leaves an enemy ice sculpture behind, which adds aesthetic value to the animation.
This finisher has your hunter summon an icy pickaxe, which they then use to kill off their opponent in one slick motion. The pickaxe goes perfectly with the Hunter’s cloak, aesthetically speaking. The animation of this finisher is, in my opinion, the greatest in all of Destiny 2.

- Effective in Crowded areas
- Effectiveness is not limited to a specific weapon or class
- Requires line of sight
- Resource-intensive
Slice and Dice
Best Hunter Finisher
Season | 21 |
Type | Daily Bounty |
Description | Defeat opponents using Strand damage from any source. |
Quote | Precision and violence in the same motion. I like it." âLord Shaxx |
Objectives | Strand final blows: 5 |
Rewards | XP+ |
Vendors | Lord Shaxx |
Why did I Choose Slice and Dice?
This finisher will allow you to finish off the critically wounded enemies and it also captures the essence of being a hunter.
Nothing resonates with the Hunter class quite the way this finisher does. It’s as though this finisher was made to capture the essence of being a hunter. The finisher has your hunter finish their enemy in a quick motion using two small daggers. The way this finisher is executed is something only a hunter can pull off.

- Can be used against wide range of enemies
- Efficiency
- Flavor and Style
- Role-playing element
- Limited use
- Risk of overuse
- Learning curve
- Resource consumption
Why Others Were Not Chosen?
- Flashkick: This finisher only applies to critically wounded enemies and this restricts you to not use the finisher in a wider range of situations. It is not aesthetically pleasing and has a high cost, which is why I avoid keeping it in my top list.
- Savage Haymaker: With this finisher, you are at a risk of overusing it, that can make you energy deficient and vulnerable to attacks. Hence, I do not recommend it.
- By My Blade: This finisher has a steep learning curve and it has no significant advantages. Additionally, due to recent Destiny 2 updates, By My Blade finisher has not adjusted with the game mechanics, so it has been left behind.
My Opinion On The Best Finishers
Destiny 2 offers a great way to wave your enemies good bye through creative finisher choices. In my opinion, Animation of finishers like Thunderclap and Sureshot make them the most used on my list. However, the finishers do consume most of your super energy, hence I recommend you keep an eye on that. Regardless, I will recommend you to try all the mentioned finishers in this article and give your enemy the taste of defeat.
