As mentioned previously, Elden Ring has something for everyone. From daggers for stealthy builds to Staves for mages. Weapons in Elden Ring follow the previous soulsborne formula, having stats like strength, dexterity, arcane, intelligence and faith. A weapons scaling determines what kind of damage it does and what stat it scales with.
Scaling also determines the build(s) an Elden Ring weapon will be suitable for. Due to the abundance of weapons, every kind of weapon has multiple variants, with all of them often being excellent weapons. Ranking weapons in Elden Ring is a daunting task, but with countless hours spent exploring the lands between, the following are what I believe to be the best Elden Ring weapons.
Uchigatana
Appearing in the list of the best bleed weapons in Elden Ring, too, the iconic Uchigatana is the strongest it has ever been in Elden Ring. Uchigatana is one of the simplest weapons in Elden Ring, featuring a basic moveset of slashes and thrusts and a simple, unchanged weapon rate. The Uchigatana is one of the best early-game weapons, especially for Dex builds.
Featuring quick combos, blood loss effect and ease of use, the Uchigatana is a devastating weapon. It is both an excellent PvE and PvP weapon in Elden Ring. The base Uchigatana has a Dexterity rating of D, I recommend a dex level of at least 30 to maximize its use.
The Uchigatana can be upgraded using smithing stones, which can be found in abundance in the various tunnels of Limgrave. Using bleed affinity on the Uchigatana makes it even better, dealing bleed loss in seconds meaning you will be cruising through all sorts of encounters, from PvP dueling to bosses.

The weapon of General Radahn, arguably the coolest boss in the game, had to make the list. This Greatsword is just as good as the fight suggests, dealing insane damage, having a great arte and top-tier Scaling. While the bossfight required to acquire the Starscourage Greatsword is VERY hard, thus weapon makes it very worth it.
The Starscorage greatsword has a strength, dexterity and intelligence scaling of D, D and E respectively, and it requires a strength level of 38 to wield. It is upgraded using Somber Smithing stone. It has a moveset of stomps and slashes, all dealing massive amounts of damage. You can acquire this greatsword by beating General Radahn in Caelid. Beware though, the fight is very challenging.

Moonveil
The weapon is so good we have an entire guide on it. The moonveil Katana is Fromsoft’s first magic Katana, and boy do they deliver. This Katana makes intelligence builds all the more diverse, allowing them to dabble fully into melee territory. Requiring an intelligence level of 24 to wield and having an Int scaling of 24, the Moonveil Katana is ideal for melee sorcerers.
While it cannot be infused, its own weapon art is fantastic. Transient Moonlight sheathes the weapon then quickly deals insane amounts of damage with R2 or R1 attacks. This is easily one of the strongest weapon arts in the game, with some YouTubers showcasing its ability and calling it broken.
You can acquire this Katana by completing the Gael Tunnel in Caelid. It has a moveset similar to that of the Uchigatana, with quick thrusts and slashes. Due to its high damage and versatility, the Moonveil is one of the best PvE and PvP weapons in Elden ring.

It also has a very cool weapon arte called Baggart’s roar. The battle hammer can have ashes of war and is upgraded using Smithing Stones. It is one of the best PvE weapons. The Blasphemous blade is easily one of the best weapons. It scales heavily with strength and Faith and deals tons of damage, often dealing more damage than ultra greatswords faster than them. On top of all this, Blasphemous blade looks very, very cool.
You can acquire this weapon after beating Rykard, the Elden Lord of the Blasphemous. It has a strength and Faith requirement of 22 and 21 respectively, with a D scaling in both. It has a basic moveset of slashes. It has a very cool weapon arte, takers flames that imbues your weapon with Blasphemous flames and steals enemy HP. The Winged Scythe requires a faith level of 24 and has a scaling of D in Faith. You can find the Winged Scythe in a chest in the Tombsward Ruins. You can upgrade it using Smithing Stones. You cannot infuse the Winged Scythe. It has a very cool arte called angel’s wings that does a quick slash after jumping in the air. Its moveset is very slick and fast, dealing tons of quick damage. Due to its versatility, the Winged Spear Excels in both PvP and PvE in Elden Ring.

Bloodhound’s Fang
The Curved Greatsword is one of the best dex weapons in Elden Ring. Not only is it very cool looking, it has a very slick and powerful moveset that can be devastating in Elden Ring’s PvE and is bound to confuse your PvP foes.
You can acquire this sword after beating the bloodhound knight Darriwil, a manageable fight, especially if Blaidd tags along with you. It has a Strength requirement of 18 and a Dexterity requirement of 17 with a Dex scaling of C, making it a particularly useful Dex weapon and a decent quality weapon in Elden Ring. It has a very cool mvoeset of slashes with great range and one of the best weapon arts in Elden Ring. Its art does a quick attack and makes you jump back to create distance, viable in both PvP and PvE.
All this makes the bloodhound’s fang one of the best weapons for PvP.

Golden Halberd
Bound to catch everyone’s attention during the very start of the game, the Golden Halberd is one gorgeous weapon that the earliest optional boss in the game wields. Players tricked into thinking they have to beat the Tree Sentinel are the ones who should feel the most rewarded with this weapon.
Requiring a strength level of 30 with D scaling, the Golden Halberd is one of the best Strength weapons in Elden Ring. You can acquire this Halberd after beating the Tree Sentinel in Limgrave. Beware though, you are not meant to fight him the first time you see him.
The Golden Halberd is best used double-handed and deals tons of damage, featuring a moveset consisting of slashes and slams. It also has a very powerful weapon arte that buffs your and your allies’ strength. This Halberd cannot be buffed or infused and is upgraded using Somber Smithing Stones. Its slow nature means I can not recommend it for Elden Ring’s fast PvP but it excels in PvE.

Treespear
Those who have always loved a defensive, offensive combo with a shield and spear will feel right at home in Elden Ring, for Elden Ring is home to some of the best spears in the franchise’s history. The treespear is my pick for the best spear in Elden Ring.
Scaling with dexterity and faith, the tree spear is an excellent opinion for mage-dex hybrids and pure faith builds wanting a melee weapon. Not only does the tree spear do high damage by itself with great range, ts weapon arte buffs it with holy magic, especially viable against skeleton-type enemies that respawn. You can acquire the Tree Spear in a caravan next to the Collapsed Bridge in Limgrave.
The treespear can not be infused or buffed manually and is upgraded using somber smithing stones. While it is an excellent PvE Elden ring weapon, I do not recommend the Tree Spear for Elden Ring’s fast PvP.

Those who went into Castle Morne early know the true struggle of acquiring the Grafted Blade Greatsword. Carian Regal Scepter
The staff wielded by an Elden Lord. The Carian Regal Scepter is the most powerful staff in Elden Ring making it one of the best Elden Ring weapons for sorcerers. While it has insanely high Intelligence scaling, it justifies that by being a staff for pure sorcerers only. Its high requirements and scaling mean it does massive amounts of damage.
You can acquire the Carian Regal Scepter by beating Queen Renala in Liurnia of the Lakes. It has an intelligence level requirement of 60 with a scaling of B, making it perfect for late-game sorcerers. It does massive damage with sorceries and has a cool weapon arte that is both very defensive and does high damage, it is called spinning weapon.
Due to its nature, the Carian Regal Scepter is one of the best weapons for both PvE and PvP. Any sorcerer wielding it will be formidable, shredding through all kinds of opponents with ease. This staff can not be infused or buffed and is upgraded using Somber Smithing stones.

Admit it, if you are a souls veteran you saw this coming. The Moonlight Greatsword is back and is better than ever in Elden Ring. Featuring a massive quest of its own, the Moonlight greatsword, and probably the most iconic due to its legacy.
You get the Moonlight Greatsword by getting the Dark Moon greatsword. It can be acquired after completing Ranni’s questline and has an Intelligence requirement of C, making it one of the best Intelligence weapons in Elden Ring.
The Moonlight Greatsword has the same old moveset consisting of Slashes and R2 attacks that shoot projectiles of magic that do insane amounts of damage. It excels in both PvE and PvP in Elden Ring. There isn’t much to say except that the Moonlight Greatsword is easily one of the best.

Coded Sword
The amount of good Faith weapons in Elden Ring is almost scary. The Coded Sword takes the crown for being the best faith weapon in Elden Ring. Requiri9ng a faith level of 20 with a Faith Scaling of B, the Coded Sword is a very powerful Elden RIng weapon.
You can find the Coded Sword in the Roundtable hold in Lyndell. It has a fast moveset similar to other straight swords but its ash of war, Unblockable blade, is what makes it so good You imbue the weapon with holy energy and hit a quick slash attack with insane length. This attack is unblockable, as the name suggests. It is capable of killing hordes of enemies in PvE.
The Coded Sword cannot be buffed or Infused and is upgraded using somber smithing stones. I do not suggest it for PvP for its arte lacks there but in PvE, this weapon reigns supreme.
