The Fire Keeper in Dark Souls 3 is found at the Firelink Shrine and allows the player to level up and heal the Dark Sigil using her soul. This is why today’s guide is all about the Dark Souls 3 Fire Keeper Soul.

Key Takeaways

  • Fire Keeper is a character in Dark Souls 3 that allows leveling up and healing. She lives in Firelink Shrine. Her soul is an important item in the game.
  • Fire Keeper’s Soul heals Dark Sigil, which is essential if you want to try hollowing. Hollowing is a fun experience to do in Dark Souls 3.
  • To get the soul, unlock the tower in the Firelink Shrine with a Tower key bought from the Shrine Handmaid. Climb the tower and get the item from a corpse at the top.
  • The Eyes of the Fire Keeper brings a true ending to Dark Souls 3. It is found in Flameless Shrine after defeating Champion Gundyr. Give the eyes to the keeper and fight the final boss to complete the ending.

In order to get the true ending called “The End of Fire,” you’ll have to give the Fire Keeper another key item known as Eyes of a Fire Keeper. Once the player gives this item to her, the music will change in the Firelink Shrine, and a new questline will trigger. On top of that, collecting the Fire Keeper Soul will enhance your Estus Flask – which itself can be improved by finding all the Estus Shards Locations.

With that being said, let’s jump right in and find out everything about the Fire Keeper Soul and the Fire Keeper herself.

Firelink Shrine is the main hub area in Dark Souls 3

The Fire Keeper’s soul can be found in the world of Lothric in Dark Souls 3. Once you collect it, you’ll notice that it’s a key item that can be given to the Fire Keeper to heal the Dark Sigil. If you want the Usurpation of Fire ending, you will have to collect all Dark Sigils. However, once you have the Dark Sigils, you will get a level of Hollowing each time you die.

A Hollow character gains bonus luck when having a Hollow weapon equipped. Plus, once your character becomes a Hollow, your appearance looks shriveled.

If you have a helmet or armor equipped, you will not even notice any effects. Hollow builds are extremely fun to try and can be a refreshing change of pace from the standard gameplay.

However, if you want to heal the Dark Sigil, you will have to give the Fire Keeper her soul. Once fully healed, you will not gain any Hollowing when your character dies. Keep in mind that if you completely heal the Dark Sigil, the Yuria of Londor quest will halt.

Fire Keeper Soul Location

Buying the Tower Key from the Shrine Handmaid

As mentioned earlier, the Fire Keeper Soul is hidden in the world of Dark Souls 3, and you will need a keen eye to find it. Don’t hesitate to explore every area so you won’t miss any souls. Either that or you could follow this guide and know exactly where the soul is located, making it easier and saving you time.

As soon as you enter the Firelink Shrine for the first time, you’ll notice a huge tower that has its entrance locked. Even if you do the infamous tree jump method to get to the roof of the Shrine, you still will not be able to reach this area.

The only way to do so is to buy the Tower Key from the Shrine Handmaid. After getting the key, you can enter the tower and continue climbing it until you reach a corpse of a previous fire keeper. Searching the corpse will reward you with the Fire Keeper Soul, which can be given to the current Fire Keeper.

Eyes of a Fire Keeper

The Eyes of a Fire Keeper

You can find the Eyes of a Fire Keeper in the late game when you enter the Untended Graves. After defeating Champion Gundyr, continue moving forward until you reach the Flameless Shrine.

Once you enter the Shrine, find an illusionary wall situated where Irina stays in the original Firelink Shrine. Attack the wall and you’ll find a corpse. Looting the body will give you the Eyes which you can return to the Fire Keeper.

If you are looking for the true ending of Dark Souls 3, returning the Eyes back to the Fire Keeper is a must. After giving her the Eyes, continue the game as usual and defeat the final boss, Soul of Cinder. You will have the option to summon the Fire Keeper and choose the ending you want.

If you change your mind about this, you can always kill her and retrieve her Eyes. Don’t worry though; she will respawn when you leave the area and return to it.

Final Thoughts

The Fire Keeper Soul is extremely important in the Dark Souls 3 lore. Without it, you cannot get the true ending after defeating the Soul of Cinder. This would be the “Ending of Fire” ending which sees you not link the last flame and plunge the world into darkness. This is my second favorite ending although the most canon one given the nature of Dark Souls 3 in both the game and real life.

My favorite ending however, is completely unrelated to this and known as the “Usurpation of Fire” ending which sees you become a Lord of for the Hollows of Londor with you having consumed the power of the First Flame.

However, if you are playing the game for the first time, play it the way you want without worrying much. Since there are a total of 4 endings, you should take your time and focus on each ending during each playthrough.

With that, the Dark Souls 3 Fire Keeper Soul guide comes to a close. I hope this guide assisted you in understanding everything about the Fire Keeper. Leave a comment below telling us which is your favorite boss in Dark Souls 3.
