Either that or you could follow this guide and know exactly where the soul is located, making it easier and saving you time.
As soon as you enter the Firelink Shrine for the first time, you’ll notice a huge tower that has its entrance locked. Even if you do the infamous tree jump method to get to the roof of the Shrine, you still will not be able to reach this area.
The only way to do so is to buy the Tower Key from the Shrine Handmaid. After getting the key, you can enter the tower and continue climbing it until you reach a corpse of a previous fire keeper. Searching the corpse will reward you with the Fire Keeper Soul, which can be given to the current Fire Keeper.
Eyes of a Fire Keeper
You can find the Eyes of a Fire Keeper in the late game when you enter the Untended Graves. After defeating Champion Gundyr, continue moving forward until you reach the Flameless Shrine.
Once you enter the Shrine, find an illusionary wall situated where Irina stays in the original Firelink Shrine. Attack the wall and you’ll find a corpse. Looting the body will give you the Eyes which you can return to the Fire Keeper.
If you are looking for the true ending of Dark Souls 3, returning the Eyes back to the Fire Keeper is a must. After giving her the Eyes, continue the game as usual and defeat the final boss, Soul of Cinder. You will have the option to summon the Fire Keeper and choose the ending you want.
If you change your mind about this, you can always kill her and retrieve her Eyes. Don’t worry though; she will respawn when you leave the area and return to it.

The Fire Keeper Soul is extremely important in the Dark Souls 3 lore. Without it, you cannot get the true ending after defeating the Soul of Cinder. This would be the “Ending of Fire” ending which sees you not link the last flame and plunge the world into darkness. This is my second favorite ending although the most canon one given the nature of Dark Souls 3 in both the game and real life.
My favorite ending however, is completely unrelated to this and known as the “Usurpation of Fire” ending which sees you become a Lord of for the Hollows of Londor with you having consumed the power of the First Flame.
However, if you are playing the game for the first time, play it the way you want without worrying much. Since there are a total of 4 endings, you should take your time and focus on each ending during each playthrough.
