Starting Class

Now, you have the option to select a starting class. Elden Ring has 10 starting classes, but for this guide, I have selected the Astrologer class to start off with because it has the best Intelligence and Faith stats.

The Astrologer class starts off with the spells; Glintstone Pebble and Glintstone Arc. They also start off with a Short Sword, Astrologer’s Staff, and Scripture Wooden Shield. They also have an armor set.

You could also start with any other class and then eventually level up to this point but it is preferred that you use the Astrologer class to minimize the amount of grinding you will have to do to get this build off the ground.

Weapons For Night And Flame Build

The Sword of Night and Flame

The Sword of Night and Flame, also known as the Kamehameha sword, is an awesome weapon to add to your arsenal. It’s a unique weapon skill, known as the Night and Flame Stance, is what sets this weapon apart from the rest.

When in the weapon stance you have the option to fire either a laser beam of concentrated magic or sweep forward with a burst of flames. This weapon requires 24 Intelligence and 24 Faith, so it is definitely one for the caster and mages but if you wish to wipe out bosses then definitely do not ignore this Elden Ring sword of night and flame build.

It is located in the Caria Manor. Found in a chest inside a locked room behind the gardens. This is accessible by using the walkways above. You can get onto the walkways from the Chapel building in the west.

Meteorite Staff

Ever wanted to use gravity against your enemies? Well now you can because in Elden Ring you have gravity sorceries. The meteorite staff is one of these weapons and is great for the early-game to mid-game gravity sorceries. It even empowers gravity sorceries which do additional damage. This staff scales with intelligence very well and is an essential component for this build.

This staff is important for this build due to sorcery that is helpful in this build particularly. The staff will stagger enemies that will allow you to get off hits using the sword’s weapon skill.

Talismans For Night And Flame Build

Marika’s Scarseal

You need to get some extra stats at the beginning of your journey. That’s why I would recommend this talisman as it increases your Intelligence, Arcane, and Faith by 3 points each. This allows you to wield the sword and output extra damage with your sorceries.

Carian Filigreed Crest

Now, you don’t have an unlimited amount of FP, and no one wants to dedicate many flasks to FP instead of HP, so to help reduce the cost of sorceries, I’ve used this talisman. It lowers the FP cost of skills by 25%, which can be the difference between the one spell that would get you the win against a challenging boss.

Radagon Icon

Nothing special here. This talisman simply reduces the cast times for spells, allowing you to get off more damage in a shorter amount of time. Ending fights with this is faster due to the cast time being minimized.

Spells

Ancient Death Rancor

Insanely cool and perfect for a necromancer build. However, I’ve used this spell not for its cool factor but rather the amazing set-up that it can provide us to use the Sword of Night and Flame weapon skill.

It has an amazing range and follows the enemy on which it was cast. After hitting a few of these, the enemy will be staggered, allowing you to freely charge up the laser beam and keep on firing at them for an extended duration.

Rock Sling

It pretty much accomplishes the same thing, but instead of skulls, it flings 3 rocks from the ground using gravity magic. It serves the same purpose as the aforementioned spell, but it costs less FP to cast, with the offset of it being at a smaller range of effectiveness. Another thing to note is that this is on the weaker side of gravity spells but still quite effective.

Also, since I’ve used the Meteorite Staff in my build, this sorcery is buffed by the passive of the staff, allowing us to stagger enemies in a lesser amount of hits than usual. Hence its importance for the Elden Ring Sword of Night and Flame build.

The Completed Build

When the build is completed, you are a veritable health-melting machine. The ideal complete build would be 30 Intelligence and Faith each, alongside some Dexterity and Strength for when you would want to get up close and personal with an enemy or boss. 

There is one downside to this build. However, you need a lot of FP, and this may not work for more nimble bosses as they are coded to dodge when you initiate the cast of a spell.

Now, you equip any armor that does not make you heavy roll but uses armor that increases your Intelligence or Faith.

Overall, this is definitely a build that you just try to play with at least once in your journey through the world. It is also important to note that Comet Azure differs from this sword’s special ability, but it can be buffed in the same ways as the spell by maxing the weapon out to +10.
