Leviathan first appeared in Final Fantasy 2 as a monster engulfing the players’ entire party. Since then, Leviathan has become a very loved summon for players in the series. But recently, players have been becoming increasingly confused about the whereabouts of this beloved Eikon. If you also are wondering where to find him, keep on reading!
Key Takeaways
Leviathan Easter Eggs
At around the 4:06 minute mark in the Ambition Trailer for Final Fantasy 16, we saw what looked like it could have been a huge Easter egg hinting towards a beloved Eikon – Leviathan. The collector’s edition box for Final Fantasy 16 also features Leviathan on the cover.
Leviathan is a well-known and loved Eikon in the Final Fantasy franchise and is considered truly an iconic summon out of the 8 available. Dwelling in the seas and ocean as a dauntingly Huge Sea Serpent, ‘Leviathan the Lost’ is the Eikon of water.
Is Leviathan Anywhere In The Game?
Since there have been many references, from easter eggs in a promotional trailer to artwork for the new Final Fantasy installment, which features the Sea Serpent, it is natural to assume Leviathan once again plays a part in the game as a vital summon. Unfortunately, Leviathan does not appear during Final Fantasy 16’s main storyline. Along with that bad news comes another. Leviathan is entirely absent in the game.
Out of the 8 Eikons, only Leviathan has been confirmed to be unavailable in the game. The other 7 Eikons are still accessible to players of the new game with their respective Dominants.
What About Future DLC content?
While you could sit and argue that it is possible the departed monstrosity of the seas might make a return in the possible future DLC content, the Producer of Final Fantasy 16, Naoki Yoshida, has let us know in an interview with the Game Informer that there is no current plan for the game to have any DLC content.
We have no idea if people are going to fall in love with Valisthea and fall in love with Clive’s story and want to see more of the world and more of its characters. So while we always want to consider DLC or spinoffs or those types of things where you can learn more about the game, first, we want to see if Valisthea and Clive are really things players worldwide want to see more of and then make that decision.
At the very least, there is still hope for possible Downloadable Content in the near future, which could expand on Clive’s lore and allow players to embark on new ventures – perhaps some which involve the oceans and seas.
Summing It Up
The absence of Leviathan from the latest installment in the series is a shocking blow to the game’s fanbase. One could only hope it was done in anticipation of an epic DLC storyline where we could reunite again with this Eikon. We hope you found our guide helpful.
