Out of the 34 spells in Hogwarts Legacy, Alohomora is one of them. Like in the Harry Potter books and movies, this spell is used to open the locked doors and even the treasure chests containing valuable items.
Unlocking the Alohomora spell is an essential part of the game because you will come across many locked doors that have collectibles or secret pathways hidden behind them. Therefore, to open them and thoroughly explore the map, you must use this spell.
Key Takeaways
- Alohomora Spell can be unlocked by completing the main story quest, The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament.
- To participate in that quest, you must be Level 14 or above; only then can you get Alohomora.
- Gladwin Moon will ask you to find nine Demiguise statues.
- After that, he will teach you the Alohomora spell and how to use it.
- You can open the locked doors using this spell by playing a mini-game that shows an outer circle linked with an inner circle.
- There is a green spark on the outer circle and a red spark on the inner circle.
- To pick locks with this spell, you need to turn the green spark ring to the point where it syncs with the two circles to its right and makes them move.
- Repeat the same with the red spark ring so that the two circles inside the inner circle start moving. This is the point where you will have opened the locked door successfully.
Unlocking Alohomora Spell
To access and learn the Alohomora spell, you must complete the main story quest, The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament. In this mission, you will meet Gladwin Moon, the caretaker who will be the one who makes you learn the spell and teaches you how to unlock the locked doors.
He will show you some statues known as the Demiguise Statues. You need to acquire nine of them, hence, completing the objective of this quest. To compete in this mission, you must be at least Level 14, so take your time and participate in other activities before your level reaches this.
Once you are done with the nine statues, Mr. Moon will teach you how to use and cast the Alohomora spell. The quest takes 12 to 15 minutes; therefore, you will only spend a little time on that. After that, you can use Alohomora inside and outside Hogwarts safely.

Using Alohomora Spell
Every time you interact with any lock and use the Alohomora spell, a mini game will initiate, opening the door for you when completed successfully. To see a lock more visibly, use Revelio to highlight them in a shade of blue.
The game is relatively easier to end by following these instructions. You will look at some circular rings during when playing, along with two shiny lights or sparks of green and red. The green light is related to the outer circle, whereas the red light rotates as the inner circle does.
You will press A and D keys on the keyboard to move the red spark. Moreover, for green spark, use the Q and E keys. It is rather tricky for controller players to rotate the sticks and hold them at certain spots to open the locks.
Our objective is to rotate the larger circles and make a pattern so that the smaller ones also start to turn. For that, we will begin with the green spark and move it with the left thumb stick or Q and E keys.
Stop the rotation when the two smaller circles to the right also start moving. This will be the only point during the complete revolution where the other two circles start moving. Now, you must hold the green spark circle at the same spot and move the inner or smaller ring.
Note that keeping the green spark circle at same point is very important as you will have to repeat from start if you fail to do that. Furthermore, Keep turning the inner circle until the two rings in between it starts rotating. When that happens, all the other combinations will start functioning, and you will have completed the mini-game and successfully used Alohomora to pick up a lock.
Summing It Up
That is all you need to know about the Alohomora spell and how to use it when playing the game. Remember to find that spot where the unrelated circles start turning; that is when you are on the right path.
