Pokémon Scarlet and Violet brings back the prestigious Pokémon Academy. Your primary goal is to earn badges by defeating Gym Leaders spread out in the regions using your Pokémons. I don’t think I really need to go into a lot of detail as to what you do in a Pokémon game at this point.
Like many Pokémon games, this is another open world, and yes! It does provide the option to customize your player! Because the default uniform can be boring after a few hours of playing. But how do you find clothes to change into? Read below!

How To Change Clothes In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet
If you don’t like what you’re wearing by default, you can change your clothes. To change your clothes you only need to press the Left D-Pad Arrow on your Nintendo Switch Controller.
After you press the button, you will see a menu there that has all kinds of customization options available. Here, you’ll be able to see that there are four uniforms i.e. spring, summer, autumn, and winter. You can select from either of them.
You can select them to see what the outfit looks like over here. It will show a preview of what it looks like. From what I have noticed, unfortunately, we are stuck wearing a uniform for pretty much the major part of the game. Here is a list of items you can change/remove:
- Socks
- Shoes
- Gloves
- Glasses
- Hats
It does show the option to change bags but unfortunately, you are stuck with the default bag for the entirety of the game. You can also change your phone case here in this menu.
Where To Buy Clothes In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet:
Being able to buy clothes for your trainer in Pokémon games is always a good reason to get excited for new players. At first, it might seem like you are only stuck with purple and green uniforms but that’s not all there is to the game. The game is an open world, and it gives you the ability to buy things like clothes, phone cases, hats, etc.
Buying new clothes in Pokémon Scarlett and Violet is not that hard to do. As you are exploring the open world of the game, you will find some shops. There are 3 major cities in the game i.e. Mesagoza, Levincia, and Cascarrafa. Here is a list of shops where you will be able to find and buy clothes across the cities:
- Fashion Street
- Veracidad
- Capbourg
- Bagin’s
- Spec Shack
- Seguro Style
- Rough & Tough
- Sock Quartet
- Zapaldea Footwear
You can always zoom in to look at the clothing stores. Here you can buy extra clothes to customize your character in a different sort of style if that’s what you desire.
Complaints With Changing Clothes In Pokémon Scarlett And Violet
Not all fans of the game are fully satisfied with the option to customize though. Yes! You can accessorize your trainer with goods from different cities, such as backpacks, sunglasses, socks, shoes, or hats. But wearing a school uniform won’t allow you to alter your personality. It is indeed, still a uniform.
Another complaint is that the preview takes a bit of time to load and you actually have to look around until the preview loads and that takes away from the playing experience. Sometimes the clothing items are not compatible with body features. Such as hats not fitting properly o certain hairstyles, etc.
To summarize, every town has a unique collection of stores, and you the point of the game is to explore. The problem is that the options I did have were good, but I really wanted to be able to outfit my character in something other than a uniform.
